Aframax suitability: why a regional position needs an exact operating brief

An open position is a statement of availability, not a promise that a ship fits every nearby cargo. Aframax screening should connect the position and dates with the proposed cargo, voyage and terminal requirements.

Questions to resolve early

Our practical checklist asks for current vessel particulars, last cargo information where relevant, loading and discharge constraints, cargo quantity and the expected operating window. Record who supplied each answer and when. If a date or location is uncertain, label that uncertainty instead of silently widening the search.

Keep acceptance explicit

Tanker inspection evidence can inform risk review, but acceptance remains a separate decision for the relevant parties. Ask which approvals are required and whether they apply to this specific employment. A clean shortlist explains the reasons for inclusion and the remaining checks; it should not imply that a fixture has already been agreed.
