Suezmax planning: keep route assumptions visible in every enquiry
A rate comparison is only useful when the underlying voyage assumptions are comparable. For a Suezmax enquiry, record the route being considered, the cargo quantity, the expected dates and any constraints alongside the quoted freight basis.
Separate the rate from the voyage
Worldscale publishes a nominal scale used with negotiated percentage adjustments. A Worldscale quotation therefore needs the applicable route and scale basis; it is not, by itself, a complete voyage budget. Confirm additions and differentials with the parties instead of treating a headline number as an all-in cost.
A practical desk discipline
We recommend placing route assumptions beside the vessel shortlist. If a port, cargo tolerance or transit option changes, request a refreshed commercial comparison. This is an operating checklist rather than a current freight assessment, and it does not imply that a vessel or route is available.
